In the last week, God's power has been so manifest. Everyday brings new and more wondrous examples of His grace and goodness.
Two Fridays ago, 2 young women were walking into the abortion clinic together. For whatever reason, I felt strongly in my heart not to say anything to any of the women entering the clinic the entire day when I normally would offer my "We are here to let you know there is help available" spiel to each and everyone. I was told later (I hadn't heard this while on the sidewalk) that one of the 2 women shouted out to those of us on the sidewalk, as she walked was walking to the clinic, to not even attempt to speak a single word (but in more colorful language). Strangely, I don't believe anyone was about to speak with them because all others were praying intently instead.
A few more clients and their escorts entered afterwards. A few of us stood on the public sidewalk directly across from the clinic entrance and continued to pray the rosary. During this time, one or both of the 2 women aforementioned came outside for short periods to either talk among themselves or on their cellphone. In addition to these women, a young man was also outside, standing on the wheelchair ramp and leaning over the wall, staring explicitly at us and studying the signs surrounding us for well over 45min. Our prayers continued.
As we were still praying, one of the young women unexpectantly came down the steps (it was now midafternoon), approached us, and asked for literature for herself (she said her friend was scheduled with the abortion clinic). We gladly gave her what we had, letting her know that everything could be shared with her friend and that we would help either of them in whatever way we could. Before leaving us, Lorraine, one of our prayer warriors, handed her a graphic brochure that was recently given to her to hand out at her church called "Life or Death", saying "and this is for you."
Our rosary didn't stop as they examined all the literature. Five minutes later, they walked down the stairs smiling over to us. They didn't even go back into the clinic to let them know they were leaving. We again offered our help and our blessings and both said that they were completely fine. It brought tears to my own eyes when Lorraine called out as they were walking back to their car "We will always be here for you, Sweetie." Possible TWO more lives spared through the power of prayer!!
God continues to show me that His Grace transcends anything we can say to these women. The prayers of those present at the clinic are stronger than any human words of persuasion. I never tire of saying this....if it weren't for those praying for this cause, our words offered to the women will be absolutely meaningless. Hearts must be touched before minds are changed and only God knows what each person needs. Sometimes, like that day, absolutely no words are even necessary to change those hearts. He does it all.
At approximately 4:00, we were startled by a loud commotion. One of the women had come out of the abortion clinic, crying and screaming. Her male escort (the young man who was watching us from the wheelchair ramp for a long length of time) was following her. No one could make out what she was saying. After asking what she needed, the hysterical woman replied "I need money to get this abortion". She then said that she had a 4 yr. old that she had to think of and something about having a medical condition that would kill both her and "it" if she countinued the pregnancy. Nothing could console her. Abruptly, she apologized then ran off across the street and disappeared behind the bank with her escort following her from a distant (that had left their car in the clinic parking lot). The abortion clinic locked their doors shortly after. They were gone even when we left. Another baby had survived another day.
My guess is that the escort (most likely the father) changed his mind about providing the money for the abortion and they had to cancel the appointment which set her off into a frenzy. We could only pray that she was given some time to reconsider aborting her baby and that the father's support would help her choose life.
And to finish off with this tremendous outpouring of graces, Bob our prayer warrior from Pt. Pleasant, was able to speak with one of the abortion clinic workers at length, both when she was outside of the clinic and again while driving home in the car and stopped on the driveway by us. She disclosed that she has had enough and is starting a new job! I am begging prayers for her because her words revealed she is in much need of healing herself. I have found the Society of Centurions, a ministry for ex-abortion providers and staff whose material I hope can be passed on to her.
This awful business causes nothing but a huge far-reaching wake of emotional, spiritual, and physical destruction everywhere.
