Today we experienced a torrential downpour at the abortuary. The lightning was constant. I couldn't help but admire, from the safety of my car, the 4 retired gentlemen (Mario, George, Bob, and Jim...I feel led to give them an enormous amt. of credit b/c of their edifying sacrifices) who were standing outside, one holding an umbrella, undeterred by the lightning strikes, and the driving rain. Most of them are at the clinic every single day, every single hour that place is taking lives despite weather or other obstacles.
I really feel God rewarded their sacrifice....the entire block of Route 37 where the clinic resides lost electric power. No computers for client registration, no suction machines to vacuum small bodies. 30 minutes later, all of the clients (about 7) walked out. The entire abortion clinic staff followed shortly thereafter. Even if they are rescheduled for an abortion on a later date, they now have additional time to reconsider. A couple of the women leaving took literature. I pray that these women do indeed change their minds and do not come back.
One couple did walk in several minutes after the clients all left (but before the staff did) and when asked to take literature, he responded "it's not like they [those in this abortion clinic] are doing it to 6 month olds" before walking into the building. When he was seen a couple minutes later smoking at the stoop, he was approached with a fetal development brochure. He then started to share his view on why some people should not be having babies and how some children will just grow up perpetuating a bad lifestyle if raised by these same parents. He shared the plight of some child he knows who is being raised by foster parents and is the angriest child he has ever met. During the course of the conversation when challenged on these views, he also stated that adoption is made almost impossible b/c of bureacracy. It was the usual slew of pro-choice arguments. The final question posed to him "so do you think it is better to kill them?" made him walk away without an answer. So many people have this same mindset....there seems to be no real followup (in their own minds) with the point of their arguments when confronted with the realization that they are advocating killing a child rather than have them born and raised in, what they perceive as, less than ideal situations.
I pray that he truly reflects on these disturbing beliefs and is given God's wisdom to see the truth and realizes fully the sanctity of human life.
